Read Through the New Testament: John 1
It has forever been God’s nature to reach out to us. From creating something from nothing, giving us life, and shining light into our darkness, He has ever bidden us to come to Him.
And it has ever been mankind’s nature to reject Him. We reject His Word, rule, witnesses, even His very existence. The greatest rejection of all was the Cross, where the Creator was crucified by His own creations.
Yet even in death, Christ reached for us, offering His all: life from the dead, light from darkness, and most importantly, Himself as the way for us to become, like Him, Children of God.
When we by faith received Christ, God’s reach laid hold on the object of His great affection, and made us His very own. We are truly His beloved Children, and as such, recipients of the family Name and nature. So it is our joy to join God in His efforts to reach those around us. Like John the Baptist, we would bear witness of the Light who has made such wonderful changes in us.
But the world has not changed. Often, we encounter the same rejection that God has known all along. And like John, we find that our world is completely disinterested in the Life and Light that means so much to us.
But do not despair, He is still God and His Word is still powerful. He remains the only cure for man’s death and darkness, and there are still those who will believe, receive Him, and become the children of God.
After all, you did.
So be faithful to the Word, and keep bearing witness to the Light. He still reaches into the darkness of the human soul and speaks, “Let there be Light”.
