HOW TO BE SMARTER
By far the most notable way I’ve increased my IQ is through the longtime study of the Book of Proverbs. There is something about this Book, God’s Divine eternal Wisdom, that does more than instruct or give pithy adages and “old sayings”. This is the multi-layered, vast, fathomless Mind of the Almighty, given to King Solomon, wisest of the wise, delivered to him by God’s Master Craftsman, The Lady Wisdom.
Would you be wise, intelligent, and intuitive? Study Proverbs. Would you be strong, protected, and prosperous? Study Proverbs. Would you keep life, the world, and yourself in proper perspective? Study Proverbs. Would you know the very Mind and
Heart of Almighty God? Study Proverbs.
This is the plainly stated purpose of this mighty Book:
Proverbs 1:1-6 (ESV)
1 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, 3 to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; 4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— 5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, 6 to understand a proverb and a saying, the words of the wise and their riddles.
And remember: If you don’t know the LORD, you don’t know anything!
Proverbs 1:7 (ESV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
So today, on this first day of a new school year, let’s recommit ourselves to learning and growing, especially in our relationship to our great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
